At least 50 people were drowned and many more were missing when a country boat carrying 300 people capsized in the Kalshi River at Champupara area near Chaygaon in Kamrp district on Monday.
Police said the boat was carrying nearly 300 people. While 200 people drowned, 150 passengers swam to safety while 50 others were still missing.
Senior district administration officials have reached the spot and a search operation is on.
